“I had studied in Amsterdam from 1990 to 1996 and I began my career at a small Dutch firm. I wanted to have more of a focus on corporate law, so I joined another ‘magic circle’ law firm after some years in practice. I had friends at Linklaters and, when I talked to them about their experiences, the prospect of working here really appealed to me. I liked the idea of joining a global firm with a growing office in Amsterdam, and I knew Linklaters was involved in innovative deals. When I finally made the move here, it was everything I’d expected.
Linklaters is a firm that is continuously developing its capabilities and I was confident I’d not only have the opportunity to contribute to this development, but I’d develop myself too. I’m constantly involved in large, complex deals. I work in fully integrated teams consisting of lawyers and notaries, and as such I am involved from the beginning to the end of transactions. Best of all, the atmosphere is very open in the office and there are many talented and friendly people. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Do as many internships at different firms as you can. They are a great way to discover for yourself what it’s really like to work at a firm, and I think you will experience a positive difference at Linklaters.”
